Reaction to China's Space White Paper

Will China shame the US back to strong space program?, editorial, Youngstown Vindicator

"Indeed China cites the effect on national pride as well worth the cost of its massive investment. Its space program already has made major breakthroughs in a relatively short time, and it is on track to replace the U.S. as the leader in space-station development. Will we care? To be sure, much has changed in the U.S. since the launch of Mercury I, not the least of which is decreasing awe over 60 years of almost routinized manned space travel. One thing that has not changed, however, is that fierce competitiveness and drive for achievement that energized millions of American schoolchildren of the '60s."

Beijing's space odyssey, editorial, Washington Times

"Today, America lacks that type of visionary leadership. If the United States somehow does reach Mars sometime in the 2030s, it will not be because of anything Mr. Obama has done. The way things are going, our astronauts on the red planet will be greeted by a Chinese welcoming party."

China Releases White Paper - China's Space Activities in 2011, SpaceRef

"Outer space is the common wealth of mankind. Exploration, development and utilization of outer space are an unremitting pursuit of mankind. Space activities around the world have been flourishing. Leading space-faring countries have formulated or modified their development strategies, plans and goals in this sphere. The position and role of space activities are becoming increasingly salient for each active country's overall development strategy, and their influence on human civilization and social progress is increasing."

Nepal ? With Strong India Connection

Nepal ? a country deeply build on Hindu ethos has a strong India connection. The erstwhile Hindu kingdom beckons with its geographical diversity, beautiful landscape, diverse vegetation, sacred lakes, snow capped mountain peaks and places of historical significance. Indian citizens can visit Nepal without passport or visa.

Nepal is a landlocked country in Southern Asia, located between Tibet autonomous region of China and India.?

Nepalese are descendants of three major migrations ? one from India, another from Tibet and third from North Burma and Yunan via Assam. Although the Indian migration happened later, they dominate the country not only numerically but also politically, economically and socially.? The indigenous people of the Kathmandu valley are called Newars. They are classified into forty cultural groups but all speak a common language called Nepal bhasa. They follow both Hinduism and Buddhism. The ethnic groups in various terrains of Nepal are grouped as Janajati.

Nepal travel packages take you to a country with diverse linguistic heritage. This heritage is evolved from the language groups of Indo ?Aryan, Tibeto ? Burman, Mongolian and various indigenous languages. The majority has as mother tongue Nepali. Maithili, Bhojpuri, taru, Tamang, Newari or Nepal Bhasa, Magar, Rai, Awadhi, Limbu and Bajika also exist as mother tongues of various people. Nepali is the official national language and is derived from Sanskrit. Devanagari script is used to write Nepali. Local dialects in Terai and hills are in unwritten form.

The vast majority of Nepalese population follows Hinduism. Shiva is regarded as the guardian deity of the country. Nepal homes the world famous Lord Shiva temple, the Pashupatinath Temple. It is a holy pilgrimage centre for Hindus the world over.

Lumbini is included in many Nepal Tour Packages. Located in district of Kapilavasthu , Lumbini is a pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It is the place for lord Buddha was born. It is also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Nepal topography is divided into three regions ? Terai or the plains , Pahad or hills and Parbhat or mountain regions. Terai in south bordering India is part of northern rim of the Indo-Gangetic plains. They are formed and fed by three major Himalayan rivers Kosi, Narayani and Karnali. Pahad is adjacent to Mountains and varies in altitude. It homes sub tropical to alpine climate zones. The Parbat region makes up the northern part of Nepal. It home the great Himalayan range. Including the highest peak of the world Mount Everest with eight thousand eight hundred and forty eight meters height, seven other eight thousand meter peaks are in Nepal or on its border with China. They are Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu.

Due to the large number of peaks, Nepal is ideal for Mountaineering. Trekking in Nepal is also encouraged. There are various trekking trails in the country which are enthralling and interesting. The concept of ?Tea-House Trekking? is the easiest way to trek as there is no need of back pack that is tents, food, water or beer. Tea ?houses are now developed into full-scale tourist lodges with hot showers, pizza, pasta and beer. The hikes are normally through lodge filled settlements or villages from where everything can be purchased. But one shortcoming is that facilities available in remote areas are not extensive as in more popular areas.??

Dota 2: Drayich and co. join Reason Gaming: Updated | SK Gaming

GamersLeague has lost its Dota 2 team. After DEDominik 'Black' Reitmeier and DEChristian 'Slap0r' Pticek were recently removed from the roster shown on the GamersLeague site, the remaining players decided to leave the organisation and form an all Swedish team at Reason Gaming .

While Kim 'Drayich' Larsson would be the obvious choice of being their captain, it is in fact Daniel 'giftig' Ivarsson who's pulling the strings. As a long time player of Reason Gaming representing the organisation in both CSS and HoN he now picks up Dota 2 and becomes the captain of the newly formed team.

SEReason Gaming
SEDaniel 'giftig' Ivarsson
SEKim 'Drayich' Larsson
SEJonas 'hyddae' Hinders
SEFoaad 'tanari' Jadidi
SETim 'XoYnoZnU' Lundell Johansson

This is what Reason Gaming had to say:

"As a top European organization, we at Reason-Gaming can foresee a great future for the game, and that's why we have decided to pick up a DotA 2 team, an all Swedish lineup captained by a well known player to our organization, a player that has represented our organization before in both CSS and HoN, Daniel "Giftig" Ivarrsson. After Dreamhack our HoN team dispanded because giftig wanted to play Dota2 whilst the other players chose not to. We therefore removed the team and picked up giftig's new Dota2 team instead."

UPDATE:GamersLeague statement on Drayich's matter:

"I have to say I'm sad that this project didn't work out. Since DOTA2 Star Championship we faced many problems that we couldn't overcome as it seems. I wish Drayich and co. the best of luck in the future, they have the potential to become huge. As for GamersLeague, we won't be leaving the DOTA2 scene and we are going to announce a new lineup as soon as we seal the deal.

2 men found guilty in UK black teen's murder (AP)

LONDON ? In a case that exposed racism and incompetence in Scotland Yard and took nearly two decades to bring anyone to justice, a jury found two men guilty Tuesday of brutally stabbing a black teenager to death.

Gary Dobson, 36, and David Norris, 35, were convicted of killing 18-year-old Stephen Lawrence as he waited for a night bus in southeast London in 1993. The pair will be sentenced Wednesday and face life in prison.

"Had the police done their job properly, I would have spent the last 18 years grieving for my son rather than fighting to get his killers to court," said Lawrence's mother, Doreen, who said Tuesday's verdict was tinged with sadness.

The investigation ? which has seen multiple court appearances by suspects over the years but no convictions until now ? led to strong criticism of London's Metropolitan Police and resulted in an investigation that found the force was "institutionally racist" and had bungled evidence-gathering. It also led to a change in Britain's double jeopardy rules.

It has been one of the most notorious unsolved murder cases in Scotland Yard's recent history ? and police admit the investigation isn't over yet.

Lawrence, who had wanted to study architecture, was stabbed twice and bled to death as he stood at a bus stop with his friend Duwayne Brooks. He was attacked by a gang of youths and police say they believe others were involved in the stabbing.

"I do not think I'll be able to rest until they are all brought to justice," Lawrence's father Neville said in a statement read out by his lawyer after the verdict.

Arrests weren't made until two weeks after the murder. Then ? in 1996 ? three of the suspects ? Neil Acourt, Luke Knight and Dobson ? were acquitted.

Tireless campaigning from Lawrence's family ? and a change of government in 1997 ? helped keep the case alive, with Britain's left-leaning Labour Party commissioning a public inquiry into the murder and the police investigation.

The resulting report, written by William Macpherson, found that the police were "institutionally racist" and had failed to investigate Lawrence's murder carefully because he was black.

The Macpherson report led to a sea change in British race relations ? and breathed new life into the prosecution after authorities relaxed England's rules on double jeopardy, which say that a person cleared of a crime cannot be retried for the same offense.

Still, obstacles remained.

In 2004, prosecutors announced there was "insufficient evidence" to pursue anyone for the murder amid allegations of police corruption.

But new forensic evidence uncovered in 2007 helped save the case.

Scientists subjected the evidence to months of careful tests, retrieving fibers from clothing taken from the suspects. They found a single hair matching Lawrence's DNA and a microscopic blood stain invisible to the naked eye.

In 2011, a new trial was set up at London's Central Criminal Court.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said Tuesday he hoped the conviction would offer some comfort to Lawrence's family.

He said the verdict would not "ease the pain of losing a son, but ... I hope that it brings at least some comfort after their years of struggle."

Labour leader Ed Miliband said he believed the Lawrence case would leave a powerful legacy for Britain.

"The murder of Stephen Lawrence was not only a tragedy for a talented young man and his family, it was a wake-up call to all of us who believe Britain is ? and always must be ? a country where everyone is shown respect irrespective of race, culture or faith."

Dobson and Norris had both denied the charges. After the verdict, Dobson said as he was leaving the court: "You have condemned an innocent man here, I hope you can live with yourselves."

Steam for Android app brings the Steam Community to your fingertips

Gamers are surely familiar with Steam, the online multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve software, but if you happen to own an Android powered smartphone, you?ll be intrigued to know that a recent app brings the Steam Community to your fingertips.

Back in March 2011, we heard the early whispers of Valve possibly developing a version of Steam for iOS and Android, but it seems that the latter is being treated to one right now. Although it isn?t necessarily an official app, Steam for Android, which is developed by IBF Programs, provides all of the functionality you?d normally expect on your Android smartphone.

Certainly, there are going to be many Steam users who will appreciate the app?s usefulness, like being able to check your Steam?s public profile, check to see if your friends are online, checking group updates, and even get a quick look at the Steam Specials tab if there are any discounts currently available on the Steam store.

Needless to say, hardcore gamers will especially take a liking to this free app, even though it?s not an official app developed by Valve in some way. Nonetheless, if you?re interested, you can grab yourself a download through the Android Market right now.

Iran navy tests medium-range missile during drill (AP)

TEHRAN, Iran ? Iran's navy said Sunday it has test-fired a medium-range surface-to-air missile during a drill in international waters near the strategic Strait of Hormuz ? the passageway for one-sixth of the world's oil supply.

State TV said the missile, named Mehrab, or Altar, has been designed to evade radars and was developed by Iranian scientists. The report didn't provide details or say when the missile was tested.

A spokesman for the exercise, Rear Adm. Mahmoud Mousavi, said the missile is one of the newest in the navy's arsenal.

"It's equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a built-in system that enables it to thwart jammers," Mousavi told state TV.

The exercise covers a 1,250-mile (2,000-kilometer) stretch of water beyond the Strait of Hormuz, including parts of the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden.

The drill, which could bring Iranian ships into proximity with U.S. Navy vessels that operate in the same area, is Iran's latest show of strength in the face of mounting international criticism over its controversial nuclear program. The West fears Iran's program aims to develop atomic weapons ? a charge Tehran denies, insisting it's for peaceful purposes only.

The 10-day exercise drew significant attention after Iranian officials warned they may close the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off oil exports, if the West imposes sanctions on Iran's oil shipments.

But Iranian military officials later backed off from the threat, saying Tehran can easily close the strategic oil route at the mouth of the Persian Gulf but has no intention of doing so at this point.

Mousavi made a similar reconciliatory comment on Sunday.

"We won't disrupt traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. We are not after this," the semi-official ISNA news agency quoted him as saying.

    $250-$750 USD
    (Approx. $244-$735 AUD)

Project Description:

Overview

The requirement is to create an IPAD application for an electronics company. The applications should be a product gallery and also act as a customer service tool through which they can select the electronic/electrical item they are looking for. For example a customer needs an airconditioner but do not know which one to choose from. So instead of a sales person helping them out, the IPAD application will ask a series of questions and help them to choose the right A/C for them. A sample flow is shown in this link :http://www.logicworkspace.com/alhafidh-present/ , but we need to change the design as well as the UI completely.

Please bid if you have prior experience on creating IPAD/IPHONE application for electronics company before. Bid with your portfolio
